Humpback Whale on Sled Runner Artifact

Mary Mueller created this beautiful scrimshaw piece on a fossil walrus ivory sled runner. The image of a humpback whale is beautifully detailed on this rare artifact and a wonderful example of Mary's fine scrimshaw carving technique. Mary superbly incorporates the unique color and layered properties of the artifact in the overall design of the work. The work is signed and sits on a handmade wood base.
