Vic Accord was born in Wrangell, Alaska in 1951. Growing up in a commercial fishing family, Vic started fishing at a young age. His youth was full with fishing and hunting. His Alaska Native cultural background is Haida Raven clan from his mother Tlingit Eagle-Salmon from his father.

In Southeast Alaska, many families depend on local wood to heat their homes. Using the available red and yellow cedar, Vic started to carve wood at the age of 15, learning from his father.

Vic continues to enjoy carving and today is a well-known artist and carver. His work includes hand-carved Alaska yellow and red cedar bentwood boxes, paddles, masks and totem poles, some painted and carved with his original Northwest Coast designs.

Carving, Vic says, brings out the spirit of Alaska and his Native culture. “Please enjoy my work and the spirit that comes with it.” Vic Accord.
