Larry Rudick is a Pacific Northwest carver. Born in Palmer, Alaska, he is of Blackfoot Ukrainian heritage. His father, John, was a trapper and fisherman. Larry’s brother Harold showed an interest in carving at a young age and Larry followed suit, learning the art as he grew up.

Larry has been carving since 1980. He has refined his carving and style through study with his in-laws, the Williams family whose carving style is that of the Nitinat tradition. His wife, Ida Williams is a member of the Nu-chah-Nulth of Ditidaht First Nations from the Thunder Bird Longhouse, Vancouver Island BC.

Ida assists Larry and paints many of the totem poles he carves. Each of Larry’s totem poles is one-of-a-kind.
