Mary Mueller carved this beautiful scrimshaw piece on a unique fossil walrus ivory artifact (likely an old spear head used for hunting or fishing). The image of a kayaker paddling into a pod of Orcas is beautifully detailed and a lovely example of Mary's fine scrimshaw carving technique. Mary superbly incorporates the unique color and layered properties of the fossilized walrus ivory in the overall design of the work.
