Artist Mary Mueller created this wonderful scrimshaw piece on the tip of a fossilized walrus tusk. The image of the woman ice fishing wearing a fur trimmed kuspik is beautifully detailed on an incredible piece of fossil ivory. This work is a lovely example of Mary's fine scrimshaw technique and use of the unique properties of the fossilized ivory in the overall design of the work. The piece sits on a solid wood base.
