The late Rosalie Paniyak created this wonderful “Chevak” doll, a style of doll making she originated in the 1950s and named after the Alaskan community she was from. The doll is sitting holding a woven sea grass plate and wearing a print dress and head scarf. The fur accent and hair are Polar bear and beaver. The face is pinched and sewn sealskin with eyes made from glass and seed beads. A doll by Rosalie Paniyak would be a treasure for any serious collector.
