Inupiaq Activity Doll

Eva Heffle, Inupiaq, was a Kotzebue doll maker known for her “activity” dolls, dolls that show people in action doing the daily tasks and celebrations of village life. This doll is in sitting position holding a birch bark basket with an ulu knife used to prepare skins. She is wearing a fur parka with beautiful fur ruff. Her face is carved from wood with seed bead eyes, painted facial tattoo features and a long dark brown hair braid.
