Description
"Iva Lisbourne" Doll
wood, baleen, moose hide, fur- beaver, rabbit, hair
9"h x 4.25"w x 2"d
Iñupiaq doll maker Iva Lisbourne (Iva Naomi Aimaq Bolt Lisbourne, 1937 - 2009) created this wonderful doll. Iva became a well-known doll maker with her "Iva Lisbourne" dolls much sought after by collectors.
Her husband, Ken Lisbourne, made the beautiful hand-carved cottonwood face featuring walrus ivory and baleen for the eyes, teeth and the signature beauty mark on the cheek. A unique feature of her dolls, Iva puts wire inside the doll so that the legs, arms and head are movable and will stay in whatever position they are placed. Iva, skilled in sewing skins, hand-stitched the fur and skin parka, mucklucs and mittens the doll is wearing. The doll is from a collection and is in good condition.
