Ronald Apangalook, a Siberian Yup’ik artist from the village of Gambell, Alaska created this wonderful, finely carved seal hunter with spear from walrus ivory. The “Seal Hunter” represents the traditional subsistence lifestyle of the people of Saint Lawrence Island. He is hold a spear sitting in his qayaq. The work exemplifies Ronald's fine attention to detail and his sophisticated carving technique. 

Every piece Ronald carves is unique and incredible. Ronald’s Eskimo name is Qaygeghutkaq, shortened to Qay, literal translation “put on top”. The piece is signed “QAY” on the bottom.
