Man with Polar Bear Ruff

Evans Apatiki, Siberian Yupik from Gambell, Alaska carved this stunning mask from fossilized whalebone surrounded by a polar bear ruff. Evans lives a subsistence lifestyle. He hunts polar bear not only to use the fur in his artwork, but more importantly for the meat to feed his family. The back is signed Evans Apatiki GAM, AK.
