This wonderful Nunivak Island mask was created by Lola Smith Ferguson using an original “Double Walrus” design by her late father, the renowned carver Peter Smith. This mask is handcrafted out of driftwood. Lola makes her hoops by hand by bending them around a pattern and each appendage is attached with sinew. She uses traditional methods of gathering the pigments to make the paint she uses. The mask is signed.
