Ronald Apangalook, a Siberian Yup’ik artist from the village of Gambell, Alaska, created this wonderful, finely carved sculpture. The expressive face is carved from walrus ivory and Ron has crafted a drum and stick from whalebone and wood. The figure is hand-carved fossilized whalebone with elegant line and movement and exemplifies Ronald's fine attention to detail and his sophisticated carving technique.

Ronald’s Eskimo name is Qaygeghutkaq (shortened to Qay), literal translation “put on top”. The piece is signed QAY.
