Ronald Apangalook, a Siberian Yupik artist from the village of Gambell, Alaska, created this beautiful, finely carved figure. This wonderful piece is carved of walrus ivory with baleen inlay defining the features of the wolf. Ronald's attention to detail, skilled carving techniques and ability to incorporate the unique characteristics and texture of the ivory is exemplified in this work.

The figure is signed with Ronald’s Yupik name is Qaygeghutkaq (shortened to Qay), literal translation “put on top”.
