Human, Eagle, Frog Mask
red cedar, operculum shells, horsehair, acrylic pigment
10”h x 8”w x 6”d

Haida artist Reg Davidson created this beautiful Northwest Coast mask. Carved and painted, the human face features an original eagle design on the forehead. However, when the mask is inverted the face becomes a delightful frog. Reg uses operculum shells as teeth. Opercula, the shell-like plates covering the opening of the marine snail’s shell, have been used to accent Northwest Coast Native art for generations. The material is prized for use in inlaid box lids and bowls as well as masks. This unique mask would be a wonderful addition to any Northwest Coast art collection.
